Vulkan - Artillery Fire C4I System

Vulkan - Artillery Fire C4I System supports the whole process of battlefield management on the basis of a geographical information system, integrated encrypted communications, GPS, laser and video target acquisition and meteorological sensors. The Automated Self-propelled Artillery Battalion (Battery) Fire Control System Vulkan:

• substantially shortens the time interval between target  detection and target destruction;
• enhances the accuracy of data processing and gunfire efficiency, while decreasing expenditure of ammunition;
• reduces the necessity of gunfire corrections;improves the concealment and reliability of control and command.

AAFCS uses the most up to date geographical information systems, computers and other technical equipment and devices. Developed according to NATO standards, AAFCS "Vulcan" is successfully implemented on active duty with the Bulgarian Army.

The project has won the Bulgarian IT innovation award in the category Military Information System for 2004.
